As part of my university studies, my team and I were tasked with creating a video game to complement a campaign. We chose to raise awareness about Alzheimer's disease, a cause close to our hearts, as some of us have loved ones affected by it. Our designers developed an incredible concept that captures the daily struggles of those living with the illness, conveying their feelings of confusion, loneliness, and frustration.
Together with my fellow artist, I was responsible for crafting an immersive environment that allows players to experience these emotions firsthand. Specifically, I designed the layout of the house where the gameplay takes place, ensuring it effectively supports the narrative.
I worked closely with my colleague, adhering to a defined style guide and mood board, while creating, texturing, UV unwrapping, and animating the necessary assets. I also designed the game's user interface (UI), ensuring it was intuitive and visually aligned with the game's overall atmosphere. Additionally, I implemented all visual elements into Unity, developed particle systems to enhance the atmosphere, and created the promotional trailer to further communicate the impact of Alzheimer's and educate players on its widespread effects.
This project was a deeply meaningful experience, allowing us to merge creativity with purpose and use game design as a tool for awareness and empathy.
