Next up in my internship recap from Letink Design: Industrial Visualization & Machinery Pipelines!
Working with massive industrial assemblies (like processing equipment and automated assembly lines) means balancing realistic visuals with heavy technical constraints. I had the opportunity to take raw CAD data and transform it into fully optimized, materialized, rigged, animated, and rendered machinery showcases.
A couple of stuff I developed and worked on:
CAD Ingestion, Hierarchy & Performance Boost
- Processed complex CAD files by organizing massive assembly trees into logical collections
- Re-modeled and merged mesh segments, improving overall scene handling performance across production platforms
- Re-materialised full production lines with PBR materials tailored for metallic surfaces and industrial environments.
Hard & Soft-Surface Rigging & Animation
• Rigged and animated both rigid mechanical components and dynamic soft-surface elements to bring machinery sequences to life.
Custom Scripting & Automation
• Wrote custom Python scripts to streamline material library setups and automate
batch node assignments, cutting down repetitive tasks and speeding up asset prep.
Batch Rendering & Scene Organization
• Configured studio lighting setups, shadow catchers, and camera paths optimized for background rendering and fast batch outputs.
• Maintained clean, modular scene files, allowing for rapid client feedback implementation without risking broken dependencies.
A massive thank you to Filipp Gofman, Tim Wopereis for their mentorship during these heavy industrial projects! Having team members regularly check in, share their production workflows, and offer valuable feedback helped me adapt industry practices directly into my own technical style.
